Writer, Editor, and Internet Consultant
Biography
Laurie Dennison is a writer, editor, and website coordinator. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University of Florida, she holds a BA in English with a concentration in professional writing and an MEd in English education and educational technology. Her career as an English teacher evolved into work as freelance editor and website coordinator in 2010, helping churches, schools, and individuals develop a solid web presence. She is currently enrolled in the graduate certification program for instructional design and technology at Florida State University.
Laurie enjoys combining her passion for writing and teaching by mentoring other writers. An active member of SCBWI, she was the Jacksonville critique group leader for three years. As a writer of young adult fiction, Laurie won the 2017 Rising Kite Award for YA in Florida. She has also been a YA Pitch Wars mentor for three years.
Along with two colleagues and fellow EFA members, Laurie joined with The Editor Garden in April of 2018 to provide a process encompassing the entirety of book development while supporting the writer’s creative spirit at every stage. The Four-Stage Flourish Process is designed to grow with you: to nurture your writing spirit, grow your craft, and accomplish your goals as you develop new and exciting writing and book projects, grow your career, explore your passions, and contribute to the world. While Laurie still takes on select projects with The Editor Garden, in January 2020 she founded LA Dennison Consulting in Jackson County, Florida, to better serve local clients with web design and desktop publishing.
